Great Moments in Spin

Now: Michael Ignatieff’s principal secretary and top Quebec aide quit because the Liberal Leader doesn’t know the province “from Minnesota,” Stephen Harper’s strategists say.

The gloating memo, sent to Tory MPs and supporters Monday, was inspired by the departure of Jean-Marc Fournier. A former member of Quebec’s National Assembly, he left Jean Charest’s government in November, 2008, and went to work for Mr. Ignatieff.

  • Stephen Harper’s various aides quit because the Conservative Leader doesn’t know the country from Belgium or a Northern European Welfare State, I says.

  • How long had Harper's aides been doing the 24/7 thing?

How long has Ignatieff been the leader of the Opposition?

  • I find it absolutely remarkable that political strategists from all parties even believe that ordinary Canadians give a damn about this kind of thing.

I am a political animal and I do not give a damn. So, I would imagine those who are not political would just shrug their shoulders and move on.

Really, these folks, in all political parties, need to get out more and learn how to stop wasting their time on these issues that are beyond trivial.

  • Yup, I have a hard time believing anyone really cares much about who's working in the PMO or OLO.

  • Condolences to all Liberals, and especially to family and friends of M. Lague, who was the victim of a motorcycle fatality this morning (Aug 12). He was the Communications Director for Ignatieff, and was on his way in to work at the time of the crash. (He was on the bus tour as recently as Monday, according to reports.)
