  • Want to know something ironic?

The title of the post is "Cover Up," yet both videos posted are "Present." xD

  • I stand corrected.

  • Better than sitting a glen and rambling on - simple and effective...could have mentioned something about the fact that the rest of us will be working....

  • Meh, I dunno -- bad ads. Overly emotionally tugging and patronizing. I can't help but think that a clear, critical statement would be better - the detainee file is an important issue with valid questions, these don't measure up, in my opinion.

  • Not sure I like them.

They assume we all know too much.
They should have just attacked the PC's for being lazy and not working at a time of economic crisis.

  • The ads should connect to bread and butter issues as much as possible. Canadians care somewhat about parliamentary abuse/arrogance (we re-elected Trudeau, Mulroney and Chretien - but shafted the humble Clark and Martin), and even less about detainees.

The hidden agenda finish is especially lame. Harper has been in power for four years, that must be SOME secret plan he's got.

The next election is going to be about cuts to government spending. That is precisely what Harper is going to announce in a few months, and it is going to overtake this discussion.

The Liberals have lost in part because they have been reactive to events rather than pro-active. They just fought an election amidst a major economic downturn, by talking about how green they are. Before that they were even less disciplined, running from crisis to crisis.

What do you do when another guy makes cuts? You talk about how heartless he is, and how this is just the first step before he goes after healthcare. You need to make the case that he is out of touch with average Canadians. Prorogation of parliament is a pretty good springboard to doing that. Incidentally, Bob Rae would be 8 billion times better than Iggy for launching that kind of campaign.

  • Something to hide? Ask a minister's brother what he thinks....

  • RE: hosertohoosier

"Bob Rae would be 8 billion times better than Iggy" ... full stop.

  • Torture? Cover-up? So now the Conservatives run ads reminding Canadians of the Somalia inquiry and how it was shut down when it became embarrassing for the Liberals, and the Grits come out ahead how?

So because something was wrong in the past it's ok now and we should all just shut up about it?

  • Not bad. Better than the "Stephen Harper keeps a dragon" ads of yore.

  • The other problem is that Iggy just said he would prorogue when appropriate. It is an entirely sensible position, but I could see the nuances being lost on the ill-informed electorate (like the folks that joined that were mad in the first place because they had no clue you COULD prorogue parliament). This could be another "I voted for the war before I voted against it" moment for Iggy.

  • The faux outrage of the Liberals is for one purpose only: to raise money.

By Blogger Paul, at 6:42 p.m.

  • I think everybody should glance at this.
