Rocco

Ottawa , ON – Liberal Leader Michael Ignatieff and Party President Doug Ferguson today announced Rocco Rossi will serve as National Director of the Liberal Party of Canada beginning January 26, 2009.

Mr. Rossi has served as Chief Executive Officer of The Heart & Stroke Foundation of Ontario for the past four years. With Mr. Rossi at the helm, innovation of the Foundation’s fundraising practices led to revenues rising to record levels.

I don't know much about Mr. Rossi, but if this is part of a plan to make fundraising the LPC's number one priority, then you've got to like this move.

  • I have bought tickets for the Heart & Stroke lottery, but I am not sure buying a ticket for a new car ,cottage,or million dollars to support the LPC would be as much fun.

  • The guy behind the logo scandal??
    Great news!

Does the health check logo hype health or sell food?

Originally aired January 23, 2008 —You've seen the Health Check logo. It's the friendly red checkmark that appears on nearly 1,500 packaged food products in this country, representing the approval of the Heart and Stroke Foundation.

If a product bears the logo, that means Heart and Stroke has evaluated it and concluded it complies with their criteria, which is based on the recommendations of Canada's Food Guide to Healthy Eating.

So. Does the logo mean it's the healthiest choice? The answer is a little complicated. As Wendy Mesley reports, it turns out that some of Heart and Stroke's Health Check products don't get top marks in other food-rating systems.

  • The Foundation does not profit from health check...depending on your diet, many "healty foods" may not be good for you. Nice try Harper fan.

In terms of his fundraising skills, greyburr is correct. A lot of outreach and rebuilding of the grassroots infrastructure that was destroyed after the Martin leadership race is needed before donors, enticed by a solid fundraising campaign, will agree to donate.

  • It would be a better move if they put him into a fundraising capacity rather than dumping Mr. Fergus a very competent, hard working and kind man. I was terribly disappointed in learning this. Ridiculous.

  • The H&S Foundation does a lot of grassroots fundraising so Mr. Rossi's experience there is good. Many disease oriented charities get a large portion of their funding from big pharma, though.

Oh well, at least if the Libs eat right and exercise they won't need to worry about Rx prescriptions later on.

Hey, my word verification to post this actually says 'dions'. Serendipity-doo! LOL
