Manley Considering Liberal Leadership Bid

  • I read that Ignatieff is well liked in Quebec.
Manley is to the right, though.

  • LeBlanc declares. Its on.

  • Well, if Manley joins the fray (or McKenna), I'm liking the new faces throwing their hats in. A Rae delegate before, I'm eager to give each candidate a good listening to before I throw my support hither or yon...

  • So, are you a Manley man?

  • Manley would be a great addition to the race. Him and McKenna are the only candidates with CVs befiting a pottential Prime Minister.

  • Perhaps, but doesn't he have all the charisma of an elderly loaf of bread?

In any case, he'd certainly qualify as the "right-of-center Liberal candidate", and that just raises the same question Ignatieff does: whether he'll be able to pick enough enough conservatives to make up for all the progressives who will bleed--or already have bled--to the other two progressive parties.

  • You guys need to stop framing every candidate in terms of right or left because regular Canadian, non-politcal types don't think that way.

For example, many NDP voters choose the Conservatives as a 2nd choice, or vice versa. People who don't read politcal blogs every day don't feel the need to define themselves the way politicos do. They choose their candidates on an issue by issue (or party brand) basis.
