Text We Can!

Has anyone else been incredibly excited at every incoming text message they've gotten over the past 48 hours?

I keep glancing down expecting a "sorry 2 keep u waitng - my vp is biden", even when the aforementioned text comes in at 11 pm.

Soon...soon...


UPDATE: According to the CNN ticker, Bayh, Clinton and Kaine are out, while there is "activity" at the Bidens. So all signs are pointing to Joe, with the text coming tomorrow morning.

I must say, while Sebelius had been my choice, I think Biden would make a very clean, articulate, bright Vice Presidential nominee.


JOMENTUM UPDATE: Biden it is. Not a bad pick, although the 3 a.m. announcement was a bit odd. If done on Thursday or Friday afternoon, the text messages/e-mails could have generated some word of mouth buzz and gotten evening news and Saturday newspaper coverage.

I'm hoping they use Biden as the attack dog, because I think the Obama campaign has been a bit too cautious so far, and has allowed McCain to define the agenda so far.

  • The real fun begins when friends start spamming friends with fake announcements. Might have to be done from "unknown" phone numbers, tho. Not that I'd recommend that sort of bad behaviour.

    I was disappointed in a few punches Hillary Clinton threw in the primaries, but overall I think she's pretty cool - I'd be really happy to see them together on the ticket.

  • Man, I wish you knew Evan Bayh personally, and that he had a great sense of humour.

    Lacking a cell, I've requested my roommate to call me immediately when he hears word.

    Why all the fussy draw-out for someone who's going to turn out anti-climactic, ie. Kaine? I'm starting to think it will be Clinton, after all. Or a real shocker, like David Petraeus or Warren Buffet.

  • One of the news channels had it as Biden Friday evening (after the main news hour, so the campaign wouldn't get much coverage), and CNN reports that Joe was told on Thursday. It seems clear that the campaign never really had this whole "announcement" thing under control.

    Seeing Biden and Obama together, though, really does emphasize the inexperience of the latter.

  • Odd time isn't it? Exactly 3 am.

    Hillary's most effective ad against Obama was the

    "Three a.m." ad.

    Funny of the 24 hours he chose to formally announce that Hillary would not be his running mate he chose

    3 a.m. Not 8 pm or 10:30, or if late at night was required (due to bandwidth) not 3:30 or 4:45, 4:47, gee the possibilities range by the mathematical factor of 60x12.

    Yet he chose the time of Hillary's most damning ad against him to snub her.

    What a bridge builder.

    What a way to build bridges.

  • I could see the McCain ads with Biden criticizing Obama's inexperience backfiring once he picks Romney (which is very likely, IMO) as his running mate.

  • Totally agree, both counts. I'm sorry it didn't work out better, but maybe it just goes to show we should all be nicer to our allied rivals.

    Maybe it would be smart to offer her a top spot early on, like Secretary of State or etc. I dunno, though.
