October Surprise

With all the buzz about an October 14th election date, this is noteworthy:

As he mulls over possible dates for a general election campaign, Prime Minister Stephen Harper may want to take a glance at the fall catalogue for Les Editions de l'Homme. That's where the Quebecor-owned publishing house announces that Julie Couillard's kiss and tell autobiography will be in stores starting Oct. 14 - which could put it right in the middle of an election campaign.

Which means excerpts and leaked copies (somewhat ironically) would be going out during the homestretch of the campaign.

  • I've seen this mentioned on other liberal sites.

I'm not sure what's more pathetic:

believing that the work of this jilted lover bimbo could affect the outcome of an election,

    or,

being OK with the work of such a bimbo jilted lover affecting the course of our country,

if it has the effect of winning you an election (which of course it won't).

From the reams of abstentions, to desperately scouring for any morsel one can call a scandal, to proposing an increase in fuel prices during skyrocketing fuel inflation as the single platform put forth,

the liberals have fallen so low, it will take decades to recover.

    Harper landslide.

  • I doubt it will have much of an impact, other than to remind people of the scandal a bit (not that I think this scandal really would change much).

  • Those in the loop know that the book has some pretty crazy revelations about top CPC officials and cabinet ministers.

The interesting thing about Julie, is that she knew a bunch of Tories long before she ever met Maxime...
