Boisclair's Walk in the Snow

After watching party members line up against him, Andre Boisclair has rolled over and quit as PQ chef. Boisclair has been behind the eight ball, and on a powder keg, due to chronic problems over the past year and his leadership was on the line going into the last provincial election. After the PQ bit the dust in March, it was inevitable that their members would eventually smoke Boisclair out and drop him like a ton of bricks.

To be blunt, Andre Boisclair blows as PQ leader, and they will be better off without him. So the high hopes of the sovereignty movement will hand over the keys to their new white knight, Gilles Duceppe.

Bad news for the BQ and bad news for bloggers who lose the opportunity to slip cocaine euphemisms into their Andre Boisclair posts.

  • Bit surprising, though, that Harper couldn't find some extra federal cash to put towards retaining Boisclair on indefinitely.

  • Respectfully, I disagree. I don't believe he was a bad leader. I think the policies he tried to alter didn't jive with the Old Guard. Like bad backseat drivers, they were never giving the right direction. Now that the car has stalled, they are blaming the driver.

    I don't think a new leader will fix the fundamental problems in that Party.

    If Duceppe thinks he's the Saviour, I'll look forward to his crucification, as it is the fate of all PQ leaders.

  • A sad day for Canada (well not that sad, really). With Boisclair at the helm of the PQ, there was no chance of the PQ getting back into power in Quebec. He was a weak personality, and the Quebecois hate that more than anything, regardless of what he stood for.

    I'm sure as everyone has been predicting for months, Duceppe will return to try and shore up that mess of a party.

  • So the blower has become the blowee, blown away right off the political map. What a shock (dry tone). Personally, I could not understand what the PQers were thinking with his election in the first place, and not just for doing coke while a cabinet minister and then trying to pass that off as "youthful indiscretion" either. He seemed to me like someone clearly out of his depth/league, and so it appears he was in truth as his record as leader appeared to demonstrate.

  • when boisclair won the leadership, i figured the party would shoot up in the polls, but instead their numbers cracked in half.

    judging by the tears from boisclair today, it appears he was not expecting to see this day anytime in the near future. I feel bad that my federal tax dollars couldnt buy him a psychic/stylist. Then he would have been able to see it coming.
