The Next One...

In today's Calgary Herald, they ask some potential PC leadership candidates about their opinion on Alberta's third way. This is a golden opportunity for those who want to be Premier to explain their thoughts on this very important topic and where they want to take Alberta. In short, they can lay outa clear vision and give delegates a reason to vote for them.

Or, maybe not.

1. In 50 words or less, what is the Third Way?

2. Do you support it?

JIM DINNING
Declined comment.

Yes, five other candidates explained their views on health care. Jim Dinning, meanwhile, felt that health care isn't really a major issue for Albertans right now.

Jim Dinning has been wanting to be Premier for so long that he's forgotten why he wants to be Premier. I mean, does anyone out there know of anything Jim Dinning wants to do with this province? Has he given anyone a reason to support him, other than "I've waited a long time for the job". I won't name names but Dinning is reminding me more and more of another former Finance Minister who coveted the top job, but didn't really know what to do once he got there.

    1. "The Third Way will provide the difference between what Albertans want in health care and what the Alberta government can afford.

Because if there's one phrase closely associated with the Alberta government, it's "cash-strapped."

  • Interesting.

Too bad Manning is probably to far out of the game at this point to pull it off.

  • Well, B.S. does indeed baffle brains becuase if you read the responses none of the candidates gave an explanation; they offered puff and dribble but no once can read any response and say they are any the wiser about the 'third way'.
We have a continuation of selling the program title and no rvelation of substance.

  • I won't name names but Dinning is reminding me more and more of another former Finance Minister...

I've been saying this for awhile, too. Both got rid of their government's deficit, both became the frontrunner to replace their boss, both try to be all things to all people...

  • foottothefire is correct that none of the responses in that article really described just what the Third Way is. FWIW, here's Morton describing the plan with decent detail, albeit in a lot more than fifty words.

  • I emailed this out and 5 MLA acknowledged immediately it's receipt.. that is a rarity under any circumstances

    The Fourth way Health care

There is a serious fourth way to keep and to improve the Health care system, and that is to manage the existing health care system better, seriously.

You think there can be no improvement here? Just sit down in the corridor anytime you want in any major Hospital and observe hospital employees leaving their cubby holes and walking around the hospitals cause they do not have enough to do? or what?

The Fourth way Health care, just requires firstly seriously implementing positive changes and also now desiring to do so. Merely pretending to manage the health care system mostly by buck passing it down to line or to the others is also never an acceptable alternative approach as well A complete basic very common, simple solution review of the how the complete health system is being now managed today is all that is needed. This ongoing detailed managerial reviews includes reviewing all the sub components and looking seriously at ways to improve their effectiveness. It includes a review of how competent the designated, existing personnel really there are now as well, including how and why they were selected for their jobs too. This would as well require the need to review and to define all the bottle necks as well. Mostly pretentious health ministers and their deputy ministers at the federal and provincial levels rarely tackle such jobs.

Putting into place the past pretentious, incompetent health Minister like the ex health Minister Gary Marr of Alberta will still also never do. So a competent person a qualified manager needs to be put into place. The also unacceptable practice of unnecessarily spending the rest of the designated budgets so that you can ask for more next year has also to be stopped too.

But you firstly have to really care about the good welfare of all the citizens to do any of this continuously and effectively

  • I too support the Fourth way. What it really means is making the existing system work by making more accountable and therefore sustainable.
