SB 4 PM

Interesting story on Scott Brison today, which brings back memories of the "kiss my ass" incident with a constituent last fall.

An e-mail message from his personal assistant Adele Desjardins, obtained by the Sun, scolds the outgoing public works minister for falling behind with his French lessons.

"I know you are the best to lead the Party and I am ready to work hard," reads the terse exchange with Brison. "But I am not a machine, and co-operation is needed."

The e-mail, sent out with the subject line, "You will never learn French the way you are doing it," included an angry response from Brison: "How dare u speak to me like that?"

Do I care that he has a short temper? Nope. Do I care that he's a former Tory? Nope. That his french is weak, that he advocated private health care, was pro-Iraq, wanted a flat tax, and was vicious towards the Liberals two and a half years ago? Well...maybe a bit.

But how can anyone out there support someone who uses "u" for "you", in their e-mails? Are we going to see press releases during the campaign saying:

"SB wants u're vote b-cuz he's SO cool. LOL. BS is lame. ;-) TTYL!"

  • I'm sorry, this is way too funny. I can't believe that someone would do that in a business email period.

  • Only Prince can get away with that stuff.

  • What is his educational background?
He appears to be such a "little" man; physically, emotionally, and intellectually.

I'm sorry but is "pro Iraq war" really such a bad thing given the circumstances at THAT time... Bush mislead a LOT of people... are the ones who weren't mislead somehow superior??

  • The biggest problems to his leadership campaign are his 400K debt from the PC race and his temper, but I have reasons to beleive that there is a strong possibility for him to run and possibly backed by Herle. I think the strategy will be for him to run and drop out to support someone else who is considered a friend. But people in the 'friend' camp are not too happy with Brison being cozy with his buddy Herle, even though rumors hold that the board is drifting towards Belinda. Grrr..I wish I could say more...but my hands are tied.

Borys, I think will run if Gerad doesn't run. I think Gerad is not running. Borys is looking forward to the support of the Ukranian comunity in Ontario and Alberta. I think he might be successful to get 3-5 ridings from the Ukranian community support.

If Borys runs, its going to put Ignatieff into membership mode in his own riding which is technically controlled by Borys.

There is a possibility of a Candidate from the South Asian comunity to position an ethnic candidate and talks are going on all over from Vancouver to Edmonton to Toronto to unite all organizers to support this candidate. Over 10% of the ridings are at stake and in the hands of south asian organisers which can be a deciding factor in this race and 3-4 million can be raised just by making phone calls. This is primarily becuase all of them are pissed of from last leadership and this time want to join hands to piss them off.

    What goes by,comes by.

  • "Bush mislead a LOT of people... are the ones who weren't mislead somehow superior??"

Yes, the one's who weren't misled are somehow superior -- though it didn't take rocket science to figure things out, given that most people in Canada and most governments around the world were not misled. And note that the issue was not whether Saddam had any WMD at all (some chemical weapons were a realistic possibility), but whether he posed an imminent threat. Those who are somehow superior (the majority) judged that he did not pose an imminent threat.

  • It's a good thing we have Vijay Sappani to give us all the dirt on the Liberal party on a daily basis.

Vijay the rumors are swirling that you are going to take a run at it yourself now that it's wide open? You are obviously super-connected, look at all this amazing inside info!!!!

Yes and Yes. Many of us at the time were screaming he was misleading.

But that's not as bad as his flat tax and health care privatization infatuations.

    Dear Mr. Brison: U suck.

  • In the Liberal Party, the decision not to go to Iraq is seen as one of Chretien's finest. I suspect it's still a big issue for a lot of Liberals (even though it was a while ago and, like it was said, Bush mislead a lot of people).

  • The only way liberal wimps would have supported the Iraq war was if Saddam was killing homo's who wanted to get married.

But at 5000 people per month Im sure some must have been homo's. You people are pathetic losers. Probably got beat up on the playground a lot!

  • Stick a fork in it ! The Liberal Party is over ( this from one who's voted Lib life long ).

SSM - where in a significant number of Lib MP's were discovered not to actually have " liberal values " ; the civil war - where in it was discovered the good of the party and country took a back seat to power politics; Gomery- where in it was discovered that several "lib friendly" people and the party itself lined there pockets....

The Liberal "brand" has been damaged beyond repair. It is no longer seen as a vehicle for the furtherence of liberalism but as a vehicle to achieve one's personal power ambitions.

Now a couple of the top contenders for the leadership were both wanna-be Tory leaders. How funny is going to be to hear them squak " liberal values" "liberal values" after what the last 2 years have wrought?

Stick a fork in it - McKenna, Tobin, Rock already have.

  • Calgary Grit hasn't announced his intentions on leadership. I think he should make a statemenr. In or out, yourself CG?

On Iraq. Absolutely. Liberals can't elect a pro-Iraq leader. It has to be someone who was on record at the time as being against it just to make sure we can't harbour suspicions on that front.

  • I couldn't even vote! you know why, I just became eligible to apply for my citizenship:) I became an Immigrant in 2003 and the wait time for citizenship there after(which sucks), yeah otherwise I would have taken a shot at it, for sure. Well atleast Canadians will agree that I spent twice more time in school and understand Canadian history and future better than Belinda. Can't imagine a drop out wants to be my leader. What kind of intelligent decision can she make for my future?

I think what happened with the Martinites was a good learning for many organisers and will be a reminder for many years to come.

We have learnt not to give a blank cheque and let them hold us hostages to their wishes.

Everyone is talking to everyone, which means I know who Volpe met on Friday afternoon, and my friend in Vancouver knows who I had supper with today in Toronto. We are talking, which we never did before, everyone wanted to grow at the cost of other person, thanks to the Martinites, we are united now.

While we have 12 MP's of South Asian origin, just one senator appointed by Chretien. Martin had promised to bring better representation of visible minorities in the senate and other boards and he screwed us big time and the excuse was "we couldn't find any one suitable". Not one!

Ignatieff, Dryden, Cauchon, will get support from the SA community, unfortunately there are some bums who will sell their souls to Belinda.

  • Get out an vote for Belinda. Prove that lack of intelligence, work ethic, proper schooling, and knowledge of both of Canada's official languages are no impediment to becoming PM when your father is one of the richest men in Canada.

  • Oh, I'll wait and see what other big names declare before making my call.

If Cherniak and Bowie don't run, I may toss my hat into the ring to mobilize the all important "blog vote" :-)

  • I worked for Scott a few years ago, and Adele was essentially a mother figure to him back then...I really hope that his response isn't indicative of how he treats her most of the time.
