Quiz Time

I posted on the CBC quiz before Christmas, and Politics Watch has finally come out with a vote selection quiz of their own.

Unlike the CBC one, I matched up 100% with Paul this time, followed by Layton at 94%, Duceppe at 73% and Harper at 42% (which is weird, since I put down that I was somewhat opposed to the notwithstanding clause's removal).

  • Ouch! I took the test and came out 100% with Jack Layton; I know I'm on the left-side of the Grit party but that far? Maybe I'd look good in a white mustache... 2nd at 68%, Stephen Harper -- double-ouch! Pick mandatory minimum sentences and suddenly your a NRA card-totten, pasty-faced Tory-lover. In 3rd, at 63%, was Gilles Duceppe -- merde! I've never in my life separated my whites from my multi-coloured socks, so where that came from... And in last place, perhaps in a bid to stave off Monday-night depression, was PMPM. He has fallen short of my Lester Bowles measuring stick, but c'mon, mr. election poll game. Show me some luvin!

  • I'm 100% Liberal
    92% NDP
    84% Conservative
    69% Bloc

    This is odd since I generally am on the right of the Liberal Party so I would have thought my support for the Conservatives would have been higher than the NDP.

  • Weird. 100% with everyone but Harper where I rated a dismal 26%.

  • Interesting results for myself.
    100% for Harper even though I'm conflicted about revisiting SSM.
    Next closest was 60% for Layton, which I don't come close to understanding, then 53% for Duceppe and a paltry 42% for Martin.

    I said interesting because I started this election cycle strongly ambivalent about Harper and his party, but he's done a bang-up job with their new platform, which has quite a few items that I agree with. I suppose that my newfound interest in our military, particularly its past, hasn't endeared me to the Liberals much either. My number 1 issue is defence, quite honestly. Canadians deserve a voice in the international community, and we're deluding ourselves if we think that we can have that voice unless we can back it up.

  • See Liberal, you should vote for the NDP...

  • I tried this. I managed 100% for Martin, 84% for Duceppe and Layton, and 26% for Harper.

    I guess I support Liberal policies if not Paul Martin

  • My results don't surprise me all that much... looks like I pre-voted the right way. :D

    NDP = 100%
    Liberl = 87%
    Bloc = 56%
    Conservative = 31%

  • I guess you guys really are Grits. I came in at 100 percent for Harper and only 36 percent for Martin.

    The surprising thing was that I came in 41 percent for Layton. Presumably it's because Layton is opposed to Liberal Party corruption and Martin is wishy-washy

  • 100% Conservative, even though I selected "neither" on same sex. Only 22% for Martin.

    I wonder, most of us being political junkies, how many of us really support the policies or select the policies knowing the party proposing it in order to maintain our self-image? I'm not sure I support a deep water port in Iqaluit, but I do generally support Harper.

  • This seems to be done mostly on their platforms only and as well all know parties rarely follow their platforms. Best to look at their past actions rather than use a political quiz.

  • Fiesty raises a good point. Are party affiliations based on party policy or general political philosophy.

    I came out 100% NDP and 93% Liberal. Which suprised me because I tend to be a little on the conservative side fiscally.

  • I was 100% Harper, 16% Martin. Well, show's my tory colors I guess. CG, you see the La Presse endorsement? I feel bad for Martin... cause when it rains, it pours for that guy.

  • I think this test is messed up...

    For example I strongly opposed a seperate Quebec hockey team yet somehow ended up with 100% for Duceppe...

    92% each for Layton and Martin, and 64% for Harper.

    Leaving aside questions about whether or not the test is making errors, I think that there just aren't enough questions on there to make a good selection.

    Oh well, I was either voting for the NDP or Bloc Pot. Time to flip a coin.

  • Jack Layton (100%)
    Paul Martin (87%)
    Gilles Duceppe (43%)
    Stephen Harper (37%)

    I'm a kneedipper? Whaaa?
    Actually, I'm pretty far left for a Liberal, although for me, the Liberals are a long-term investment, and the NDP are NOT a governing party (look what happened to BC and Ontario.) I don't have anything against the NDP, just that the Grits are a better choice.

  • Martin 100%
    Layton 93%
    Duceppe 80%
    Harper 26%

  • I prefer the CBC quiz. It lets you see afterward which answers corresponded or differed with each candidate's platform. It's pretty obvious for most of the questions, but I was surprised by the question about holidays. Which party is proposing that?

    My results: Layton 100%, Duceppe 68%, Martin 60%, Harper 28%
