1. Sometimes these quirky stories require a one liner. Sometimes, the headline itself is enough. This is a case of the later: Tories Stole Tampon Tax Cut Idea
2. A euthanasia bill could get a bit of media play this fall. Good. So long as the proper safeguards are put in place, I don't see any reason why a law allowing very limited assisted suicide shouldn't be brought in. At the very least, this will get the debate going.
3. Apparently marijuana isn't all that bad - at least for rats. In other news, we enter year 17 of the pot decriminalization bill being stuck in legislative purgatory.
4. More Gomery testimony will come out at 5 pm eastern today. Don't expect any shocking revelations but it might bring Adscam back to the minds of Canadians.
5. The buzz on the street is that Michael Ignatieff is hoping to run in Bill Graham's riding, while the party would like him to take on Jack Layton. It'll be interesting to see how this one unfolds...

Ignatieff wants to run in Graham's riding? Graham is significantly more popular than the Liberal party in Toronto-Centre, so that could be a serious mistake.
On the other hand, the Conservative and NDP candidates aren't especially strong, so he could well win. I'm just saying that it isn't a safe Liberal seat.
Running against Layton, OTOH, *would* be a bad choice if he wants to get elected. Layton will take Toronto Danforth no matter what.

I'm with Kevin, Ignatieff has no hope here in Toronto-Danforth.
Besides the popularity Layton has probably earned by doing well for his city, Ignatieff's pro-Iraq-war stance would hurt him considerably.
Actually, that may haunt him in Toronto-Centre, too.

Why doesn't he just run for a Liberal nobody in Scarborough or Mississiauga... he'll win much more easily there w/o replace a cabinet minister or embarassing himself against Layton

Why does Ignatieff even have to run in Toronto? Western Canada could use more strong voices at the cabinet table.

you know what, tampons suck. so do pads. if the ndp wanted to get behind something constructive, theyd eliminate gst on the divacup and other re-usable forms of coochblood control.
oh, dont give me that "ewwww" ... having surgical grade plastic touching your private parts is way less gross and dirty than having some nasty absorbent material taped to your undies or shoved up there. knawmean?

Sure - and parachuting in a Liberal Harvard professor will sure fool those damned westerners, won't it? I would hardly expect Ignatieff to be a strong voice for anyone but the Liberal elite, let alone "the west" however you would like to define it.
