Sickening

If you thought last week's descent into race politics and using veterans for political gains was as low as this Parliament could go, think again.

"Is he hoping that some of us may not be able to make it?" Darrel Stinson
asked in the House of Commons.

Stinson and another Tory MP are battling cancer and had to be flown in
from Western Canada for a vote this week.

So it's come to this. Accusations that the government is delaying a non-confidence vote in the hopes that some MPs, sick with cancer, become too ill to attend a vote. Both Stinson and Chatters made the accusation in Question Period today themselves. The sad part? There's likely a bit of truth to all this. The real question is how long it takes before Canadians do something drastic...like vote for Jack Layton.

  • Voting for Jack Layton isn't drastic. I would argue that it's the most sensible thing to do. Voting for Stephen Harper would be drastic.

  • Canadians will vote for Layton - they have to stop Paul Martin from killing those homeless people in Toronto!

  • The solution should be that in the next election Canadians in every riding, should un-elect every single incumbent.

The most important consideration in voting in the upcoming election should not be a candidate's party, but whether or not the candidate currently sits in the House. Canadian's should cast aside partisan identities, eliminate incumbents from consideration and then vote for the best individual candidate for their riding.

We need to sweep out the Liberals, absolutely, but certainly wouldn't hurt for the rest of the rotten lot to go with them.

    Start from scratch.
